Junction Improved for Local People
The junction next to the Fountain Pub at Sixth Cross Road, Staines Road and Hospital Bridge Road will be altered to create dedicated turning lanes. As well as cutting accidents the work is also expected to significantly improve traffic flow and cut down on use of the Hospital Bridge Road slip road, which will benefit residents and local shops.
This scheme will improve traffic flows and keep the borough moving. Families and businesses along Hospital Bridge Road’s slip road have had to put up with drivers using it as a rat run to avoid the junction. This has been happening for years and is unfair on local people. The changes will cut the numbers driving through and tearing past people’s homes and businesses.
There have been 40 accidents at this junction in the five years but now the Conservative council is doing something about it. By improving how the traffic flows and creating dedicated turning lanes, there will be less likelihood of drivers hitting each other. The work is expected to last for 10 weeks. New traffic signals will be installed and the four entrances and exits to the junction will also be resurfaced once the changes have been completed.
A budget of £300,000 has been set for the scheme, which is being paid for by a grant from Transport for London to the Council.

Green Flag for Kneller Gardens
In West Twickenham, the long-delayed renovation of the Kneller Gardens' pavilion has now been completed and contains changing rooms/showers, public loos, a park keeper's office and a small snack bar run by the Richmond Youth Partnership.
Opened by The Mayor Cllr David Marlow, there is also a new play area, sports facilities, cycle path and bridge over the Crane; the Gardens have recently won a prestigious Green Flag Award.

Safer Green
The West Team alerted the police to the recent incidents of antisocial behaviour on The Green. It is hoped that the resulting increased police presence and the imposition of a Dispersal Zone order will resolve the problem.
