Twickenham Conservatives have begun delivering thousands of copies of the latest Conservative Party Conference newspaper to homes across the constituency, giving residents the opportunity to read about the Party’s plans for Britain and what they could mean locally.
You can also read the newspaper online by following the link at the foot of this article.
Helping People Buy and Move Home
Among the proposals is a commitment to abolish Stamp Duty on primary residences, helping more people onto the housing ladder and making it easier for existing homeowners to move.
In a constituency where house prices are among the highest in the country, the cost of moving can be a major barrier. Scrapping Stamp Duty would therefore be particularly significant for first-time buyers, growing families and older residents looking to downsize.

Backing Our High Streets
The newspaper also sets out plans to abolish business rates for pubs and high street shops.
That could provide valuable support for independent retailers, cafés, pubs and family-run businesses across Twickenham, Teddington, Whitton, St Margarets and the Hamptons. At a time when local businesses face rising costs and changing shopping habits, Twickenham Conservatives believe practical measures are needed to protect retail shops and keep our high streets thriving.
More Opportunities for Young People
The Conference newspaper highlights proposals to expand apprenticeships and reform higher education, giving more young people a genuine choice between university and high-quality vocational training.
This matters locally, where many young people are looking for routes into skilled employment, better-paid careers and the chance to remain living and working in the area.
More Police and Safer Streets
Residents will also find details of plans to recruit 10,000 additional police officers, increase neighbourhood patrols and focus policing more closely on theft, antisocial behaviour, shoplifting and knife crime.
Safe streets and visible neighbourhood policing are important concerns throughout the constituency, particularly in town centres, around stations and in residential areas.
Cutting Household Energy Costs
The newspaper explains the Conservative Party’s proposals to reduce electricity bills by cutting taxes and charges placed on energy.
For households across the constituency facing continued pressure on their finances, lower electricity costs would leave families and pensioners with more money at the end of each month. The Party also argues that cheaper energy would reduce costs for local shops and other small businesses.
Stronger Borders and Responsible Spending
The newspaper also covers plans to strengthen Britain’s borders, remove those with no right to remain in the country and restore control over illegal immigration.
Alongside this, it sets out proposals to reduce government spending and borrowing. The Conservative Party argues that responsible management of the public finances is necessary before taxes can be reduced and essential services strengthened.
Look Out for Your Copy
Our volunteers are now delivering thousands of copies across Twickenham, Teddington, Whitton, St Margarets, Strawberry Hill, Hampton, Hampton Hill and Hampton Wick.
When one arrives through your letterbox, we hope you will take a few minutes to read about the Conservative Party’s plans and what they could mean for residents, families and businesses across our constituency.
